Although workplace injuries have decreased by 20% in plastic manufacturing in the last 10 years, this remains below TRIR reduction targets as the plastic packaging and container industry poses various occupational hazards to frontline workers mainly due to exposure to hazardous chemicals, high levels of noise, repetitive tasks and awkward positions, use of heavy machinery and electrical hazards. Intenseye’s AI-powered technology can help the plastic packaging and container manufacturers mitigate these risks and better protect their workforce, while also improving overall workplace productivity and efficiency.
Reduce TRIR with leading indicator AI in packaging and container industry
Intenseye focuses on the root causes of injuries and presents real-time EHS leading indicator data powered by AI. Minimize the systemic issues to achieve a meaningful TRIR reduction in your facilities.
The most common safety hazards
Caught Between Moving Parts of Machinery
Protect workers on two fronts by preventing unauthorized access to machine areas as well as preventing authorized workers from hazards created during machine operations.
Working at Heights
Safely working at heights requires engineering controls, PPE, and high levels of focus by the employee. Intenseye provides an additional level of protection to quickly alert workers of dangerous situations.
Slips, Trips & Falls
Falling on a slippery surface or an obstructed path isn’t just incredibly common; it’s incredibly avoidable. Poor housekeeping can lead to unsafe working conditions, recordable injuries, and unnecessary process downtime. As one of the most frequently reported injury mechanisms, it is not only imperative to identify these hazardous conditions, but it is just as imperative to notify the right people to rectify the situation and prevent worker injury.
Ergonomics Manual Lifting
Fatigue and distraction quickly alter the ability and focus on manual lifting. Using real-time analysis, intenseye captures ergonomics deviations, allowing intervention to prevent acute and chronic injuries.
Up to 70% of injuries to the hands could be avoided by wearing the right gloves for the right job. Verify PPE compliance to prevent exposure to cutting, crushing, or contact hazards.
PPE is the last line of defense and often the one relied on the most when handling chemicals. Be it skin, eye, or respiratory protection, intenseye can detect PPE deviations, ensuring that personnel are protected at all times.
A cardinal rule of electrical safety is to keep unauthorized personnel away from high voltage. Not only will intenseye alert for unauthorized personnel, but it will also send alerts for qualified personnel without PPE.
Main reasons behind the high incident rates in the packaging and container industry
How Intenseye ensures safer packaging and container production operations
By seamlessly integrating with the existing cameras in workplaces, Intenseye’s AI-powered technology helps packaging and container manufacturers improve safety in their facilities and empowers EHS teams to take prompt actions in line of real-time leading indicators to prevent accidents and injuries.
Identify the Unseen Hazards
Intenseye AI helps EHS and Operations leaders see what was previously unseen and provides a better communication of hazards via real-time images, video alerts, analytics and task management tools.
Eliminate Ergonomic Risks
Intenseye Ergonomics AI module ensures proper ergonomics by tracking angles of strain across different areas of the body and reporting any improper positioning that may lead to muscle and joint injuries.
A Focus on Leading Indicators
Maintaining a culture of safety requires EHS and Operations leaders to track leading indicators that show how incidents, near-misses, and injuries happen. Quantitative insights obtained through Intenseye’s 24/7 analytical data can be tracked to improve safety.
Reduction in Injuries
It is possible to reduce injuries experienced in a workplace proactively, by addressing near misses before they turn to incidents. Intenseye’s analytical data provides EHS professionals with the knowledge that enables them to take proactive actions and make informed decisions, thus reducing risk and injury.
Out-of-the-box AI models for the plastic packaging and container industry
No hardware, no sensor, no installation.
Objects left in random places in the packaging plants can pose a serious safety risk, as they can obstruct walkways or roads, creating a tripping hazard for pedestrians and a potential collision hazard for vehicles. AI-powered early detection allows for timely correction and injury elimination.
Operating heavy machinery such as forklifts and pallet jacks poses significant risks to workers, including collisions, falls, and crush injuries. Intenseye's Vehicle Controls module can be particularly helpful in the packaging and container industry by providing real-time monitoring and control of vehicle operations, ensuring safe driving practices and preventing accidents.
In the packaging and container industry, workers are often required to perform tasks involving climbing, or working at heights, which can present significant safety risks. Intenseye's AI instantly notifies EHS teams when any behavior-based activities present an at-risk situation, enabling prompt actions to protect frontline workers from injuries.
Intenseye ensures safer workplaces
Challenge and Goal
In warehousing and distribution operations, wearing high-visibility clothing is incredibly important. One of our customers uses high-visibility vests in loading dock areas where vehicles and pedestrians often interact. They received some complaints during a close call investigation that said it was often hard to see operators crossing through the loading dock area. Using Intenseye they wanted to ensure that pedestrians were highly visible in their busy and complex operation.
By integrating our PPE use case into their EH&S system, they were able to monitor compliance and find trends for non-compliant behaviors. Using our PPE use case, our customer hoped to identify a roadblock in high visibility vest compliance, to better understand the root cause driving noncompliance.
They have seen success in decreasing the number of alerts associated with non-compliance with the use of high visibility vests.
They have retrained all shifts and monitored the effectiveness of the training with quantitative data. -They were able to identify a specific style of high-visibility vest that was uncomfortable to operators and replace it with a more suitable solution.
Timely notification is essential in preventing incidents and injuries. Intenseye is scaleable and provides immediate notification to the at-risk individuals as well as the supervisors or EHS professional.
Compliance assurance is a daunting task for safety professionals that are already stretched thin. Intenseye ensures that workers remain aligned with company and regulatory requirements, saving safety professionals valuable time and resources.
Streamlined data compiled in a dashboard presents a holistic overview of safety performance, allowing EHS professionals and leaders to direct their focus where it is most critical and time-sensitive.
Eliminating unsafe behaviors requires not only identification but also implementation of risk reduction activities. The task manager allows tracking of corrective actions from creation to completion and delivers metrics connected to action effectiveness.
Prevention of injuries requires a focus on leading indicators. Tracking metrics such as PPE use, housekeeping, and behavioral-based safety generates quantitative indicators that can be acted upon to improve safety.

Faruk SarıbuğaEHS Supervisor, Arçelik Group
When we started the project with Intenseye, initially we have set the existing use cases and got great value from the platform by being able to see the hazards, unsafe acts & conditions, and our compliance rate per facility, area, and even per shift. After that, we have thought about how to use Intenseye’s technology with our existing manufacturing processes. With the involvement of relevant parties and Intenseye team, we were able to shut down the process line automatically when there is an unsafe act and unauthorized entry detected. That added great value to our health and safety management on-site and using the cutting-edge technology for our employees’ safety was also recognized by the Arcelik management and all our employees. We see Intenseye as a great partner to manage health and safety in our facilities and we believe that we will be coming up with many outstanding solutions with the Intenseye Team.
