INDUSTRIES / PAPER, PACKAGING & CONTAINERS

Real-time visibility for Paper, Packaging & Containers operations

Paper, packaging, and container operations move fast. Intenseye helps safety teams detect serious-injury risks across winders, rollers, converting lines, dryers, clamp-truck routes, and reel storage areas before they injure workers or stop production.

AI SAFETY FOR PAPER & PACKAGING

Why these floors are hard to keep safe.

Detect
50+ high-energy hazards, the instant they appear.
Warn & stop
A voice warning, or a machine stop in ~0.8s.
Prove
Leading indicators that show risk falling.

Winders, rewinders, and rollers with in-running nips; converting lines, corrugators, and presses; clamp trucks moving heavy reels; dryers, recovery boilers, and combustible paper dust. That mix is where the serious injuries happen.

Intenseye uses computer vision on the cameras you already run to detect the unsafe acts and conditions that cause SIFs, in real time: warning workers, stopping machines, and proving risk is falling across every machine and shift.

WHERE THE SIFs COME FROM

Four hazards drive the worst
injuries - Intenseye sees them coming.

We act on the leading signal, the unsafe act, the moment it happens – not the lagging injury report that only counts people after they're hurt.

USE CASES ON THE FLOOR

The use cases that matter on a paper & packaging floor.

50+ detections, organized the way mill and converting safety teams think - from the winder to roll storage to the dry end. Pick a scenario to see what Intenseye watches, and why each one matters on a real floor.

THE DIFFERENTIATOR

Most safety AI just watches.
Intenseye steps in.

A worker reaches into a running conveyor. Same hazard, same instant - but observation only logs the risk. Intervention prevents the injury.

Observe-only AIJust watches
IntenseyeSteps in
The moment
Reach-in at a running conveyor logged “for review.”
Reach-in detected in real time - response starts instantly.
Worker warned
No warning reaches the floor.
Sentinel Speaker calls the hazard out - the worker pulls back.
Machine response
The machine keeps running - nothing is halted.
Hard Stop halts the machine in ~0.8s - before contact.
Follow-up
The hazard stays open until someone reviews it.
A corrective action is created, owned, and tracked to done.
Outcome
Stops at a notification.
Prevents the injury.

RECOMMENDED FOR THIS ENVIRONMENT

Hardware coverage for paper & packaging risk zones.

Intenseye runs on the CCTV you already own. Where a standard camera can't see - at a winder nip, in roll storage, at the dry end - purpose-built Sentinel devices fill the gap. Paper & packaging needs machine guarding first, with traffic coverage close behind.

HuhtamakiPaper & packaging
01The challenge

Huhtamaki - a global manufacturer of sustainable packaging, operating in 35 countries with 17,400+ employees - wanted to see and act on the unsafe acts behind its most serious risks across a global plant footprint, and prove where to intervene first.

Since Nov 2023

02What Intenseye did

In November 2023, Huhtamaki integrated Intenseye's AI computer vision into its OS program - running across 20 sites on the cameras already in the plants, surfacing PPE compliance, vehicle–pedestrian dynamics, working over machinery, and unattended objects, and routing real-time alerts into task management and corrective actions.

03The outcome

Global safety scores trended steadily upward across the 20 active sites, with the leading site reaching 94%. TRIR and lost-time days both fell - one plant ran 8 consecutive months without a TRIR incident, earning an internal safety award.

Intenseye is an extra set of eyes that never blink - it surfaces the unsafe acts our teams couldn't catch alone, and it's changed how we manage risk across our sites.

REGULATORY & COMPLIANCE

Built around the standards your plant already answers to.

Intenseye's detections map directly to the OSHA standards that drive citations and SIFs in paper & packaging - and the leading-indicator record shows what happened and what you did about it.

1910.261

Pulp, paper & paperboard mills

The industry-specific standard - monitor the machine, winder, and roller hazards it governs.

1910.147

Control of hazardous energy (LOTO)

Detect entry to winders and rollers that should be isolated during servicing.

1910.212

Machine guarding

Flag missing guards and reach-in at in-running nips, rollers, and converting equipment.

1910.178

Powered industrial trucks

Capture forklift- and clamp-truck–pedestrian proximity, over-speed, and right-of-way conflicts.

1910.22 / .23

Walking-working surfaces

Flag falls from height, unprotected edges, and ladder misuse on machines and mezzanines.

1910.146

Permit-required confined spaces

Monitor entry to and occupancy of chests and tanks.

1910.132

Personal protective equipment

Verify hard hats, hi-vis, eye, and hand protection in the zones that require them.

NFPA 652/664

Combustible dust

Combustible-dust hazards mapped to your floor - dry end, balers, and dust-prone converting zones.

Informational mapping - not legal advice. Standards cited are US OSHA general-industry references.

FAQ

Your questions, answered.

Built for EHS and operations leaders. Still have a question?

Does Intenseye work with our mill & converting cameras?
Yes - about 90% of IP cameras across 200+ brands, out of the box. Add Sentinel only where a normal camera can't see - Depth + Hard Stop at winder/roller nips, Thermal at the dry end.
How does it prevent a winder/roller caught-in?
It detects the reach-in toward an in-running nip the instant it happens, warns the worker, and can trigger Hard Stop to halt the machine in about 0.8 seconds.
Can it cover clamp-truck traffic and falls from height?
Yes - Sentinel Core flags clamp-truck and forklift–pedestrian conflict in roll storage and at docks, and area detection flags work at height on platforms, reels, and mezzanines.
Does it detect heat & early fire?
Yes - Sentinel Thermal sees heat, overheating, and early-stage fire at dryers and recovery boilers. It does not sense gas or dust concentration - it complements those systems.
Do you use facial recognition?
No. Everything is processed on-site, anonymized, with no facial recognition or biometric identification - SOC 2 Type II.
How fast do results show?
Most producers see measurable risk reduction in under six months - fewer caught-in and clamp-truck exposures, and an audit-ready leading-indicator record.
